GSA Encaustic Explorations

1 DAY, SUNDAY, APRIL 7, 10 AM – 4 PM
Encaustic is an ancient painting technique using melted pigmented wax and has regained popularity today. This encaustic workshop will allow the beginner to develop fundamental skills and the more experienced participants to expand on previous techniques. An introduction to encaustic, safety, materials and equipment will be followed by a demonstration of techniques. Participants will learn how to: melt/fuse/layer wax, apply colour, create texture, incise and use collage/image transfers. There will be ample time for participants to create mono-prints using Japanese papers and paintings on birch panels using selected techniques All materials will be provided and participants will have access to collage materials, stencils, image transfers and Pan Pastels. Join us as we venture into the exciting, seductive and versatile world of wax.
ALL MATERIALS INCLUDED! Multiple supports, papers, mediums, stencils, hot plates, heat guns, tools and a large variety of Enkaustikos wax stick colours for you to use
*However feel free to bring your own personal collage materials (papers, images, photocopies etc.)
