Curious about making your own sketch book and testing two different papers?
Join us for an immersive bookbinding workshop where you'll learn the art of creating a beautiful, hand-bound Coptic stitch, journal using 2 classic sketch book papers, Canson drawing and Strathmore drawing. It’s time to decide which paper reigns supreme!
What You'll Learn:
Soft covered Coptic stitch: Learn step-by-step how to bind your book using a structure that lays flat when open, making it ideal for sketching, or displaying your work.
You’ll get practical bookbinding experience with expert guidance in a supportive environment. You’ll leave with two finished blank journals, a small one for practice, and the full journal with two different drawing papers to help you find the perfect paper for future projects. Test the pages at home using your favourite drawing tools and be confident knowing you can make more books using the papers you like the best.
This workshop is designed for beginners, so no prior experience is necessary. Whether you're a writer, artist, or simply someone interested in learning a new craft, this workshop is for you. Please note, we will not be testing the paper during the workshop
All tools and materials will be supplied.
Your instructor is Margot Cudmore, one-half of Pomegranate Letterpress + Design Studio. She’s been on bookbinding journey for over 15 years. She loves learning new techniques and infusing them with her own style to create simple, purposeful journals. She stays curious by asking: how can we make it better?
