Cyanotype is the “original” sun-printing process, one of the earliest photographic techniques.
Harness the power of the sun to make detailed prints from virtually any object that casts a shadow: tools, toys, plants, leaves, stones, sand, string, lace, etc. Simply place the object on the sensitized surface and expose to sunlight (UV)
This workshop introduces students to the mixing of chemicals, preparing sensitized paper, and printing using a variety of imagery using the sun. Students will have the opportunity to print with both found materials such as pressed leaves and flowers, as well as their own drawn designs. They will produce 2-3 prints on Kozuke paper as well as having an opportunity to print on fabric.
Students are encouraged to bring any objects for printing that may create an interesting silhouette. This may include plants, feathers, paper cutouts, lacey fabrics etc.
