GSA Painting 2 in Oil & Acrylics: Evenings
with Laura Harrison
6 WEEKS, THURSDAYS, NOV. 1 – DEC. 6, 6:30 – 9:30 PM
During this 6 weeks course we will investigate various approaches to abstraction – from abstraction from the natural world to strictly formalist, non-representational ideas. With a range of historical artists as a basis we will turn to contemporary artists and study the techniques and ideas of a range of contemporary painters, with a particular focus on Canadian artists. We will analyze the formal elements of design as well as the use of materials and how this relates to the ideas of the artists. During each class students will play with materials and painting techniques to develop their own individual style and focus.
