WATERCOLOUR PAINTING FOR BEGINNERS: DAYS
6 WEEKS, TUESDAYS, FEB. 19 – APRIL 2, 12:30 – 3:30 PM
*no class March 12 ( March Break)
The perfect class for those who always wanted to learn to paint in watercolour but were afraid to take the plunge. Each class will begin with step-by-step demos and instruction through which participants will learn the basics of watercolour painting. Learn about materials used, colour mixing, several techniques such as: washes, wet in wet, glazes, scraping, lifting and more. You will benefit from basic drawing and composition instruction. Come and explore the beauty of watercolour in a relaxed atmosphere!
~Beginner to Intermediate Level
Materials
- plastic palette suitable for watercolour painting that can hold the paints as well as have a painting area
- Paints: recommended beginner colours: Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Red Medium, Phthalo Blue, Burnt Sienna, Ultramarine Blue, For a more extended palette add: Cobalt Blue, Yellow Ochre, Alizarian Crimson, Scarlet Lake, Hookers Green, Pthalo Green or Winsor Green, Burnt Umber (Optional: Dioxazine Violet)
- Brushes: synthetic or natural hair 1” Flat, #8 Round, #6 Round, #2 Rigger
- paper: 9”x12” Arches 140lb. cold press (comes in large sheet you can cut down)
- masking tape
- paper towel
- B or HB pencil
- white eraser or a kneaded eraser
- 1 small bottle of masking fluid
- small sketchbook
