Supporting our Community

We understand the importance of fostering and supporting community, both locally and in communities ‘at large’.

Whether in person, over the phone or online, one of our guiding principles is to provide the highest level of service and support to our customers, regardless of experience or circumstance, and we truly believe this is fundamental to our role in supporting community.

As well as the store, we put energy into the Ground Floor Arts, offering instruction and recreation to thousands of people over the years, and exhibitions in our Ground Floor Gallery are done on a non-profit basis, providing an invaluable venue for local artists.

We also have a long history of giving back to the community in other ways, including sponsorships and donations to visual arts-related groups/events, discounts to schools, and support for progressive social and environmental causes.

Examples: studio tours, arts associations, arts centres and public galleries, school and university art awards, school fundraisers, Indigenous groups, and more.

Because of our limited donation budget, we focus primarily on the visual arts. Please Note: we require a minimum of 30 days prior to an event for the request to be considered.
