6 weeks, Thursdays, February 23rd to March 30th, 6:00 - 8:30pm
Instructor is David Caesar
Never painted before? No problem! This class will make you comfortable in the world of acrylic painting. Each student will have a choice of either working from a still-life or from a photograph. Focusing on a single project for the duration of the course, we’ll cover the basic process starting with thumbnail sketches and moving on to application techniques, colour mixing and light and shadow. David will be doing painting demonstrations and helping students problem-solve their way through their projects.
Materials: Acrylic paint: titanium white, magenta or alizarin crimson, phthalo blue (green shade), primary or lemon yellow, ivory or mars black. Any prepared surface you chose to work on is acceptable, be it canvas, canvas paper, gessoed Masonite, etc. A small selection of brushes is recommended: 1" or 1 1/2" flat, 1, 2, 6 rounds. A palette for mixing colours and a pencil and eraser for sketching. Optional: a spray bottle for water, and a photo you would like to paint.
Please note: Masks are required for this class.
