Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking medium in which marks are worked directly onto a plate from which a print, or series of prints, can be pulled. It is especially known for the incredibly expressive lines and the rich velvety tones that can be created.
Students will learn how to cut and prepare a metal plate and how to use tools such as stylus, roulettes, scrapers, and mezzotint rockers to build up an image onto it. Once an image has been created students will learn about the equipment and techniques involved in pulling prints from their plate.
Drypoint is a very fun and forgiving medium that is very straight forward and yet full of small surprises. A great course for anyone of any ability who likes to draw and is looking for new ways to make marks!
A 4"x6" copper plate is included and students will come away with a finished print of their own.
All materials are included
