This informative workshop covers many of the options available to artists when it comes to preparing a surface to work on.
We will cover issues and techniques relevant to painters in oil, acrylic, and watercolour, as well as people working in pencil, pastel, ink, mixed media, collage and more. We will talk about working on paper, canvas and panel, with the intent of helping artists make informed decisions about what kind of surface is right for them.
Topics include: flexible vs rigid supports, stretching, sizing and priming canvas, preparing wood panels, mounting canvas and paper to panel, special drawing and painting grounds. There will lots of opportunity for Q & A along the way.
*This workshop includes small samples of grounds, mediums and supports
