So They Are Still Seen

Wildlife is more than a collection of beautiful animals, it is the heartbeat of our planet. Every species plays a vital role in maintaining the delicate balance of nature, yet so many are endangered.

We walk the same earth, breathe the same air, feel fear and tenderness, protect those we love and depend on this fragile planet for our survival. I paint wildlife to celebrate these extraordinary creatures and to invite viewers to pause and experience the haunting beauty of our diverse animal communities and our connection to them.

Erica Harrison + Grace Quirk

Erica Harrison and Grace Quirk are Guelph-based textile artists who create framed woven wall art. Working side-by-side in a sun-drenched studio filled with large floor looms, skeins of wool, and balls of linen, they share a deep reverence for the weaving process. The rhythmic clack of the loom and the steady back-and-forth of the shuttle bring a profound sense of calmness that is directly reflected in each finished piece.

Their collaboration is rooted in ärdəstrē, a design studio founded by Erica to bring people together through art. As an artist at heart, Grace joined the studio and immediately channeled her natural creativity into the fibre arts. Today, Erica and Grace create beautiful textile works of art together, blending their unique artistic spirits into a shared passion for community, connection, and the tactile beauty of natural fibres.

Anika Warmington

Anika Warmington is a self-taught artist, based in Guelph Ontario. She started painting in 2025, during a period of major change in her life. What began as something new quickly became a serious and absorbing part of her life.

Warmington paints landscapes, animals, and abstract works, drawn to the way colour, light and atmosphere can make a painting feel like a memory. Her work is more intuitive and physical, allowing colour and mark-making to lead the way and she is interested in the tension between control and instinct, and in making paintings that leave room for the viewer to bring their own experience to them.

Kaitlin Teeter

Kaitlin Teeter is a multidisciplinary artist based in Guelph, Ontario working in printmaking, photography and drawing. Her work explores themes of science, nature and curiosity. In particular, her work examines the tendencies of humans to impose order on the natural world. She draws inspiration from cabinets of curiosity, antique natural history books, scientific illustrations, specimen archives and microscopy. Much of her practice is informed by her prior studies in Plant Science and Microbiology at the University of Guelph. She is a recipient of the Samuel and Saidye Bronfman Family Foundation Printmaking Prize and received both the Printmaking Award and the Technicians’ Award at the University Guelph’s 58th Annual Juried Art Show. She recently organized “Through the Magnifying Glass”, a duo exhibition of her work with artist Madison Dougal in Zavitz Gallery, Guelph, ON.

Kate Young

Kate Young is a Canadian self-taught contemporary acrylic artist based in Guelph, Ontario. She has explored abstract painting for over a decade and began developing her practice professionally in 2025. Her work explores colour, light, movement, and emotion through abstraction, often drawing inspiration from the natural world. Young works primarily on canvas, using an intuitive, layered approach with acrylic paint and gel medium to build depth, movement, and texture. Palette knives and scrapers are central to her process, allowing layers to be applied, removed, and reworked. Nature is a recurring source of inspiration, though her work is not always representational. You can view other paintings by Kate Young via her website

Heather Seagrave

A lifelong lover of all things nature, Heather Seagrave’s practice aims to reconfigure how we view water, land, plants, animals, and all aspects of nature. With an emphasis on individual experiences, her work conveys aspects and attributes of under-utilized or criticized subject matter, attempting to alter how viewers may perceive specific topics. This work revolves around an overarching belief that all experiences are valid, important, and necessary to inclusive and effective conversations.

While completing an academic background at the University of Guelph (BAH Studio Art + English Lit., MA English Lit.), Heather addressed these interests in the context of destigmatizing cannabis. Although only one faucet of her practice, this well-known and highly controversial subject matter highlights her goal of engaging with viewers to promote open and respectful discussion, with the willingness to share, learn, and listen. This body of work counteracts negative depictions of cannabis by contrasting serrated/harsh lines or unsettling/”scary” portrayals with organic shapes and colour experimentation. Her specific journey has produced a respect for cannabis, conveyed through an understanding of growth patterns, bright palettes and loose, organic compositions. Her hope is that by viewing cannabis through this modified lens, individuals may be able to shift how they perceive the plant and become more receptive to related topics and discussions.

Sunniva Vann

Sunniva Vann is an emerging, self-taught contemporary artist based in Guelph. Merging folk aesthetics, Fauvist colour play, and a Pop Art graphic sensibility, she is currently developing a new body of work exploring the transformative, collective power of the mothering self.
